NetEase.com to Build R&D Center with USD 38mn

HANGZHOU, Apr 11, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- NetEase.com Inc. (NASDAQ:NTES), an Internet and online game provider in China, has reached an agreement with Hangzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone to build a R&D (research and development) center there.

William Ding, NetEase.com's chief executive officer, disclosed that the company would inject an investment of roughly USD 38 million into the R&D center in Hangzhou in southeastern China. The center is designed to have a floor area of more than 70,000 square meters in Hangzhou, the capital city of economically fast-growing Zhejiang Province.

NetEase.com hopes to set up a professional and first-class R&D team in the center during the next three to five years to support its overall business.

Hangzhou government has given much support for the foundation of the center. The city has provided a comfortable environment for investors.
