Retailers at Crossgates Mall are going to greath lengths and cost to cash in on an increasing demand for upscale merchandise n the Capital District.

Last year, Carroll Reed spent roughly $250,00 refurbishing its woman's clothing store at the mall, while outdoor sportswear retailer Eddie Bauer moved in at an estimated cost of $220,000. Other tenants, including Aeropastale, the Charter Club and Ann Taylor, all spent over $100,000 on their rental space, according to figures provided by the town Building Department.
